NAILM Becomes ALM

The National Association of Institutional Linen Management’s (NAILM) members voted to change the association’s name to Association for Linen Management (ALM) at their annual business meeting in Las Vegas on June 10, 2007. This marks the second time the association has changed its name since it was incorporated in 1937 as the National Association of Institutional Laundry Managers. The first name change kept the original acronym “NAILM”.

 

The new name, Association for Linen Management (ALM), marks a significant change for the organization. For the full press release select this link.

Auction Raises Record Amount for ALLC Scholarship Fund
The Silent Auction was a huge success for the ALLC Alumni Association. "We sincerely thank the NAILM Chapters for their hard work and time spent developing some awesome packages!" said ALLC Alumni Association President LaRee Noel, RLLD, RESD.  "Now we are busy preparing for the Alumni Association Golf Outing to be held in conjunction with NAILM's Annual Conference next June in Florida," said Tom Mantey, RLLD, Alumni Association Vice President.

Michael Klosinski, 2006 Heywood Wiley Manager of the Year and Bill Smith, RLLD, ALM's CFO, announced the 2007 Award Winner...Mr. Lynn Dunning, CLLM.  Mr. Dunning is President of the North Texas Healthcare Laundry in Grad Paririe, Texas.  He is an active member of the North Texas Chapter having served as Chapter Secretary and recently served as host to a highly successfuly traveling CLLM. 

"Lynn is the first to reach across the table in the form of a true partner in every sense of the word. His innovative and forward thinking approach to business is refreshing to say the least. Lynn is enthusiastic about learning new processes and ideas that will improve his laundry operation and that of the industry for the good of all."

A third generation in the laundry field with an extensive background and eagerness to expand his knowledge and the knowledge of others has made Graham Skinner, RLLD, stand high in the industry today and prompted ALM members to name him the 2007 Allied Tradesperson of the Year.  Mr. Skinner is currently a Laundry Technical Specialist with U.N.X. Incorporated and brings to that role years of experience from previous positions as Operations Manager, Engineering Manager, and Laundry Director.  He is very active in sharing that knowledge with others through his service as a facilitator and instructor at the American Laundry & Linen College and an active role in securing eductional speakers for his local North Carolina NAILM Chapter.

"...a strong and consistent supporter of our chapter and educational programs. I have watched him work tirelessly over the past five years to help lif and educate the laundry managers in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.  He has been willing to take on difficult assignments for the chapter and excelled at every task."
